MISSION
To support the material and educational needs of elementary schools in the Philippines in order to improve the instruction given to and the enjoyment experienced by students acquiring English language reading, writing and speaking skills via the creation of  mobile libraries providing books, teachings aids, audio tapes and audio playback equipment within each school.

Appropriate supplies and materials are also provided to the "Special Needs" sections of Elementary Schools which handle a wide range of students, including students who are autistic, deaf, dumb, blind and otherwise disabled.

BACKGROUND
During a visit to the Philippines, Mr. Connor was touched by the valiant effort of public school teachers to educate their students with dilapidated materials and very little or no resources.  Even chalk is supplied only for three months use and Teachers and parants have to use their own funds to purchase even the most basic school supplies.  Classrooms are usually worn out unpainted concrete that teachers attempt to cover with colourful hand drawn posters.

Elementary schools in Canada are well funded and usually have a student population of 250 to 350 students. In the Philippines it is usual to have Elementary schools with 2,800 students.  One Elementary school we have been working with has 8,400 students.

As of June 2010 the materials provided by the Connor Foundation are being used by over 13,000 students.

Text Books, Workbooks, reading books and other materials are purchased in the Philippines.  Mr. Connor meets with the Principal and Teachers of the sponsored school to discuss there specific needs.  He then meets with the Teachers at the bookstore and they participate with him in making the selections for each grade level.

The Connor Foundation was formed by Joel Gerrett (Gerry) Connor, President of Connor Financial Corporation.
